Triple layer forming fabrics with SSB design(self support binder) are now widely employed for all paper grades, from tissue through writing & printing to board and packaging paper. The SSB design gives superior performance. The paper side is woven in 1x1 plain weave pattern with fine polyester mono-filaments to optimize the paper forming characteristics of the fabric. The fine mesh on top supply a better sheet support, improving formation, increasing pulp fiber retention and reducing two sideness.
Commonly known as 2.5-layer forming fabric, extra support double layer forming fabrics are to further improve the characteristics of double-layer design. A 2.5 layer forming fabric is a standard double layer forming fabric with an additional weft yarn on the sheet side for an an improvement in sheet formation, smoothness, reduction of wire mark and better cleaning of the showers.
A single layer forming fabric has the simplest weave pattern. Single layer fabrics have one layer of warp yarns and one layer of weft yarns. And single layer forming fabrics are also applied in the manufacturing of multi-layer forming fabrics due to their good paper sheet forming properties.
